ALBERT THE GREAT
Go for Gin — Bright Feather, by Fappiano

Record breaking NY Grade I winner of over $3 million

with speed, class, and pedigree

  • Fastest 1-_ miles (1:59.24) by any 3-year-old in New York history (including Hall of Fame members Buckpasser, Damascus, Affirmed, Nashua) and faster than any 3-year-old’s Kentucky Derby time (Secretariat’s record is 1:59.4).
  • Set new track record at Hialeah of 1:45 and 2/5 for 1-1/8 miles in 2001 — within two-fifths of a second of the North American record — winning the Widener H. by almost six lengths while giving weight to the entire field.
  • Ran first or second in ten Graded stakes, carrying 120 pounds or more in eight of the ten races:
    • Jockey Club Gold Cup-G1
    • Travers S.-G1
    • Woodward S.-G1
    • Whitney H.-G1
    • Donn H.-G1
    • Pimlico Special-G1
    • Suburban H.-G2
    • Brooklyn H.-G2
    • Dwyer S.-G2
    • Widener H.-G3

  • Won or placed in 17 of 21 career starts, eleven Graded stakes (record: 21 starts, 8 wins, 6 times second, 3 times third).
  • Since he broke his maiden (by ten in a maiden special at Keeneland), he’s won or placed in 14 of 17 starts.
  • Sound, fast, honest: has made 21 starts in 22 months
  • Exceptional early speed — went wire to wire in seven of his victories, including a :45 3/5 half-mile when winning by 10
  • As a 3 year old, defeated his peers (the 3-year-old classic winners Fusaichi Pegasus, Red Bullet and Commendable) and older horses (champion Lemon Drop Kid the only two times they met and Breeders’ Cup Classic winner Cat Thief the only time they met).

By a Kentucky Derby winner, out of a Grade I Classic mare by FAPPIANO. The first three foals of his dam are all stakes winners. Second dam is a multiple stakes winner of $443,404. Complete out-cross within four generations.
