Exchange Rate's 1st stakes winner for 2008 is ZEE ZEE (05 f. o/o Emblem of Hope, by Dynaformer), winner of the May 2nd $150,000 Edgewood Stakes, run at a mile and a sixteenth on the turf at Churchill Downs. ZEE ZEE set the pace from the start and maintained the advantage through the stretch, winning by a length and three quarters. She has now earned $283,347. Owner: Zayat Stables, LLC. LIBOR LADY (05 f. o/o Laughing Erin, by Irish Castle) bested her rivals in a May 4 allowance sprint on the turf. Racing close to or on the lead for most of the race, she won drawing away by 3 and 3/4 lengths, bringing her record for this year to 5-2-1-1. She has earned $57,580 lifetime. Owner: David Ross. LEGAL EXCHANGE (05 c. o/o Picture Palace, by Tabasco Cat) won a 5 ^1/2 furlong contest on May 4 at Canterbury Park. After disputing the pace for the first ^1/2 mile, he gained the advantage in the stretch to break his maiden by a widening 13 ^1/2 lengths. Owner: Sandra Sanders. Breeder: Padua Stables.

MARIANITA (05 f. o/o Lady Barronette, by Summer Squall) this week was named the Champion imported 2-year-old Filly of Puerto Rico for 2007. She earned the honors with a string of six straight wins in her first six career starts, which included two Grade I races in Puerto Rico. She won those races by a total of thirty-four lengths. STAR TRADER (05 f. o/o Elantra, by End Sweep) notched her first win a $20,000 maiden special going 7f. on April 20 at Tampa Bay Downs. Following the pack for the first quarter, she steadily gained ground on her rivals, getting up to win by half of a length during the final strides in her second lifetime start. NOTABLE EXCHANGE (04 g. o/o Notable Girl, by What a Pleasure) won a 6 f. event on the dirt at Prairie Meadows on April 21, her first start for the year. After racing toward the back of the pack early, she angled out five wide turning for home and got up in the final strides to win by a neck. Owner: Maggi Moss. Breeder: Charles Patton.

ELLIOT'S EXCHANGE (03 f. o/o Copelan's Musique, by Copelan) won by a neck going 6-1/2 f. on the all weather track at Keeneland on April 11. The fifth stakes horse from the current crop of 3-year-olds for Exchange Rate is Waywardwillie (05 c. o/o Guiding Principle, by Ghazi), who was third in the $85,000 Soph Turf S. going 1-1/16 m. on the turf at Tampa Bay on April 5. Owner/Breeder: William P. Clapp.

LIBOR LADY (05 f. o/o Laughing Erin, by Irish Castle) won a 5 f. turf maiden special at Gulfstream Park on April 4 by three and three-quarter lengths. She's earned $42,760. Owner: David A. Ross. Breeder: Vegso Racing Stable, Inc.

TENVINCE (04 c. o/o Castle Mark, by Miner's Mark) won a 6 f. maiden over the all weather track at Bay Meadows on April 7 by a neck. He has a win and a second in two starts this year and he's earned $16,200. Owners: Bruce K. & Joanne H. Thayre Trust. Breeders: Harry Bono & Louise Bono.

21 winners, from 41 starters, from 57 foals in his third crop, which are now-3-year-olds. He also has two graded stakes winners and a total of five stakes performers from that limited group.

TRACK EXCHANGE (05 c. o/o Englands Angel, by Houston) won a 6 f. maiden special at Fair Grounds on March 21 by a length. He awaited room nearing the drive, slipped through on the rail and proved ³clearly the best². He's now won or placed in all three of his starts this year and his earnings are $35,800. XPRESSRATE (05 f. o/o Mane Desire, by Mane Minister) won a 7 f. maiden at Charles Town on March 21 by eleven lengths. She led at every call and widened her margin through the stretch. BRILLIANCY (05 f. o/o Raspberry Eggcream, by Time for a Change) won her first start of the year, a mile maiden special at Delta Downs on March 26, by six lengths. She led at every call and pulled away in the stretch, much the best. She's earned $16,560 in her three career starts. Owner / Breeder: Padua Stables.

An Exchange Rate filly was one of the highest price juveniles at the OBS March 2-year-old Sale this week. A filly out of Disperse a Star bred by Jilsie's Gigalo Stables & William Jurgens brought $490,000. She was purchased by RBTS, agent from Niall Brennan Stables.

OK JOE (05 c. o/o Last Splash, by Sky Classic) won a 5-1/2 f. maiden special at Hawthorne on March 15 by a half length in his second start of the year. He rallied five wide into the lane to get up for the win. He's earned $26,420. Owner: High Five Stables. Breeders: Doug Henderson & Gloria Henderson.

WAYWARDVILLE (05 g. o/o Guiding Principle, by Ghazi) won a 1-1/16 m. turf maiden at Tampa Bay Downs on March 19 on disqualification after being steadied late in the race. He's earned $17,020. Owner/Breeder: William P. Clapp.

CRIMSON ORE (05 f. o/o Hawk Dance, by Silver Hawk) won by five and a half lengths going 5 f. on the turf at Delta Downs on February 16. She vied for the early lead, pulled away and won handily. It's her second win from five starts and she's earned $30,600. Owner / Breeder: Padua Stables.

THERESE (05 f. o/o Proud Ciel, by Septieme Ciel) won her second career start, a 6 f. maiden special at Gulfstream Park on Feb. 10, by four and three-quarter lengths. EUROPIUM (04 f. o/o Just Bet On Me, by Darn That Alarm) won by three-quarters of a length going a mile and 70 yards at Philadelphia Park on Feb. 11. She rated in third and fourth at the first two calls, had the lead at the top of the stretch and lasted while driving. She has won or placed in eight of her eighteen starts and earned $102,640. The 2007 APEX Ratings were published this week in the Thoroughbred Daily News and Exchange Rate scored fifth in the world among young sires (first foals of 1996 to 2004) with an exceptional 'A Runner Index' of 3.55. Exchange Rate also scored first in his sire class, which are sires with first foals of 2003. Said Oppenheim of the top "young sires", "they are really the new World Top 12 in waiting."

RATED FIESTY (05 f. o/o Fiesty Countess, by Count the Time) finished first by a neck in the $50,000 Dixie Belle S. at Oaklawn Park on January 26 but was taken down to third for interference. The Grade 3 stakes winner was previously undefeated but now has three wins and this third from four starts and has earned $209,291. Owner: Heiligbrodt Racing Stable & JMJ Racing. ELIXIR (05 c. o/o Windmill, by Grindstone) won a mile and 70 yard maiden at Aqueduct on January 27 by seven and a quarter lengths. He led at every call, drew away entering the stretch and was under wraps late. Owner: Winning Move Stable. Breeder: Jim & Sonia Esposito.

The eighth graded stakes performer (from a total of 16 stakes horses) for Exchange Rate is Bereba (03 f. o/o Missy Waki, by Miswaki),who was third in the $100,000 First Lady H. DARBY'S PAL (04 g. o/o Caught My Eye, by Hansel) won by a half length going 1-1/16 m. on the turf at Calder Race Course on December 27. GREYCLIFF EXCHANGE (04 c. o/o Formidable Lady, by Silver Hawk) won a mile maiden at Tampa Bay Downs on December 21 by a length. He raced up close from the outset, bid inside the last eighth and word down the leader in the final 40 yards. Owner: Maximum Six LLC. Breeders: Brylynn Farm & Linda Capazoli.

ZURICH (03 c. o/o Victor's Prize, by Victoriate) won by two and a quarter lengths going 1-1/16 m. on the turf at Sam Houston Racetrack on December 27. He broke a bit awkwardly, settled into seventh for the first three calls, was blocked behind a wall of horses in upper stretch, moved out and then split rivals outside the sixteenth pole, and closed fast for the win. The twelfth 2-year-old winner this year for Exchange Rate is SEXY ESSENCE (05 f. o/o Bittersweetreality, by Hennessy), who won her career debut, a 6 f. maiden at Camarero Race Track on Dec. 17, by three and a half lengths. Owner: My Own Shangai. Breeder: Padua Stable.

ENCANTO PARK (05 f. o/o Sovietica, by Soviet Star) won a 1-1/16 m. turf allowance at Calder Race Course on Dec. 7 by three lengths. She sprinted clear early, set all the fractions and drew off.
