War Chant's 4^th stakes winner in 2008 is EL ROBLAR (02 c. o/o Screamer, by Roanoke), who captured the Inglewood Handicap [G3] on May 3 going a 1-1/16 m. on the turf. The MGSW overcame traffic up until the turn, then gained the lead at the top of the stretch and held on for a half length win. The victory brings his bankroll to $389,646 with a record of 14-6-1-3. War Chant's 16^th stakes winner is FLAWLESS TREASURE (02 f. o/o Rose Diamond, by Diamond Shoal (GB)), winner of the $77,000 Sabin S. at Churchill Downs on May 7. Behind the pack for the first six furlongs, she ³made a strong move from the outside² and was drawing away in the final furlong to win by 3 3/4 lengths, bringing her bankroll to $151,587. FOOTLOOSE MAN (05 c. o/o Asolare, by Gold Fever) was first by a nose in a $45,000 conditions race at Belmont Park. His record this year is 3-1-2-0 and his lifetime earnings are now $25,237. Owner/Breeder: Gary L. Zwerling.

DONCASTER ROVER (06 c. o/o Rebridled Dreams, by Unbridled's Song) broke his maiden second time out in an allowance turf sprint at Chester in Great Britain on May 7. Second in his previous start, the one and a quarter length win brings his bankroll to $31,283. ³I'm pleased with him and am just taking my time,² said his trainer, Stewart Parr. ³I think he's a nice, progressive colt.² Owner: P. VOICE OF FAITH (04 c. o/o Choir, by Cox's Ridge) won an Arlington Park $19,000 conditions race going a mile on the all weather track on May 3. After settling in off the pace, VOICE OF FAITH angled out turning for home and ran down the leader determinedly. He has now earned $35,460 in 8 lifetime starts. Owner: Eddie Kenneally. Rallying Cry (04 c. o/o Turning Wheel, by Seeking the Gold) won a 6 f. allowance on the all weather track at Keeneland on April 18 by a neck. He was making his US debut and first start since last August, rallied four wide into the lane and closed for the win. The graded stakes-placed colt has earned $235,166 in eleven starts. CURREN EMPEREUR (04 c. o/o Peu a Peu, by Dashing Blade) won a 7 f. conditions race in Japan on April 16 by three-quarters of a length. Owner: Takashi Suzuki. Breeder: Oiwake Farm.

FLORIDA BOY (03 h. o/o Wicklow Royalty, by Simply Majestic) won by four lengths going a mile on the turf at Tampa Bay Downs on April 12. He made a three wide middle move, rallied past the leaders coming out of the turn and drew off. This year he has two wins from five starts and overall he's earned $69,719. Owner: L and D Farm. He set all the fractions and padded his lead through the stretch under a hand ride. The Grade 3 stakes winner has won or placed in ten of his 14 career starts and earned $540,016. E Z OTTO (04 c. o/o Buffalo Berry (IRE), by Sri Pekan) won by a length and a half going a mile and 40 yards at the Fair Grounds on March 15. CHRISCODEY (04 g. o/o Better as a Memory, by Gone West & TCF GRAD) won his first start of the year, a 1-1/16 m. turf maiden at Gulfstream Park on February 8, by a length and a half. War Chant is now a Top Ten Leading Sire of North America after WAR MONGER (04 c. o/o Carnival Delight, by Half a Year) won the $500,000 Sunshine Millions Turf going 1-1/8 m. on the turf at Gulfstream Park on January 26 by a length and a quarter. Rated off the pace in eighth in the early going, he was steadied in traffic on both turns, rallied to catch the leader at the sixteenth pole and prevailed. It was his second straight stakes win and fourth win in seven career starts. He's earned $430,976 for owner/breeder: Peter Vegso.

War Chant had three winners this week - one on the turf and two on all weather tracks. In fact, 75% of his eight winners thus far this year have been on all weather tracks or on the turf.

Gregorian Bay (04 c. o/o Lochlin Slew, by Seattle Slew & TCF GRAD) won by a length and a half going 1-1/16 m. on the all weather track at Santa Anita on January 18. He pressed the pace, took command into the stretch and then was ³in hand² late. He 's won or placed in seven of his eleven starts and earned $105,160. Owners: Barber & Barber. Breeder: B. SENSATIONAL LOVE (05 f. o/o Love's Sensation, by Lear Fan) won a mile turf allowance at Gulfstream Park on January 19 by two and a quarter lengths. SOUTHERN ISLAND (03 g. o/o Cobrina, by Capote) won by five lengths going 5-1/2 f. on the all weather track at Turfway Park on January 18. She started her bid three wide on the final turn, closed steadily to catch the leader in the final sixteenth and won by three-quarters of a length. She's earned $198,277 in five starts. If you've been thinking that War Chant's second crop (just turned-3-year-olds) seem a little quiet compared with last year, you're right ­ and there's good reason. It turns out that 33% of his second crop foals have been exported to Europe, where there is virtually no racing this time of the year.

At the Keeneland September Yearling Sale, War Chant was the 19^TH Leading Sire for the entire sale (by average, two or more sold). His 14 yearlings sold there averaged $197,714.

At the Keeneland September Sale, the top priced War Chant was $600,000 for a colt out of Arborea sold by Gainesway and purchased by B. Wayne Hughes. Through the September Sale Book 3 (when the last of the War Chant yearlings had sold), his average for the year was $208,000 and the median was an extremely healthy $200,000 -- second highest of all the Freshman Sires.

At the Saratoga Yearling Sale, a filly by War Chant, out of Little Sister sold for $360,000 and was purchased by Paul Fout, agent.

WAR CHANT was weighted at 123 pounds on the International Classifications of 2000 for 3-year-olds released this week. That makes him the highest weighted 3-year-old miler racing in the U.S. this year. He is one of three finalists for the 3-year-old and up Turf Male Eclipse Award.
