Palace Malice's first yearlings offered for sale at Tuesday's Fasig-Tipton July Sale brought an average of $187,500, topped by a $275,000 filly purchased by Eclipse Thoroughbred Partners.

The filly, hip No. 60 consigned by Select Sales, agent for Machmer Hall, was the highest-priced lot sold by a first-crop sire at the auction.  She is the second foal out of the Dixie Union mare Southern Belle, who is a half-sister to Ohio Derby (G3) winner and G1-placed Pleasant Prince.

Not far behind the $275,000 filly was hip No. 9, consigned by Perrone Sales Ltd., agent for Apache Farm. Steve Young, agent, was the winning bidder at $250,000. The bay filly comes from a top-class female family. Her dam Passe is also the dam of $904,800 earner Wonder Gal. Passe is out of stakes winner Gal on the Go and is a half-sister to the dam of Grade 1 winning-millionaire Force the Pass.

Rounding out the day for the Three Chimneys stallion was a $125,000 colt that sold to McMahon and Hill, agent for Bourbon Lane Stables, and a $100,000 filly that went to Gary Contessa, agent.
