Gun Runner's hip No. 371 produced the highest winning bid of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic Fall Yearlings sale on Tuesday when Lambe Bloodstock went to $270,000 to secure the chestnut juvenile.

Consigned by Becky Davis Inc., agent, the colt was bred by Jon Marshall.

“We saw him yesterday early and as soon as we saw him, we knew we wanted him,” said Danzel Brendemuehl, who was bidding for Lambe. “We knew we were going to have to stretch.”

The colt was purchased with the intent to sell him at next year's Fasig-Tipton Gulfstream Sale of 2-year-olds in March.

The yearling is out of Stormy Tak, a daughter of multiple Grade One winner Lady Tak and a half-sister to the dam of this year's Alfred G. Vanderbilt H. (G1) winner Volatile.

With much of the yearling auction season complete, Gun Runner is the leading First-Crop sire by average, at $267,750, with 40 lots sold to date.
