Island Town rolls by 6 ¾ in Smarty Jones S. (G3)
Three Chimneys-raised Island Town turned in a dominating performance in Saturday’s $300,000 Smarty Jones S. (G3) at Parx, the second graded victory of the 3-year-old son of Hard Spun.

Stalking the pace through most of the 1 mile and 70 yard trip, Island Town took over the lead with about a quarter-mile to run, then drew off under a hand ride to win comfortably (VIDEO).

Island Town has three wins in five starts this year, including a triumph in the Matt Winn S. (G3) in June at Churchill Downs. He is trained by Ian Wilkes.

Bred in Kentucky by Randy Bloch, et al, out of the Distorted Humor  mare Humorous Gal, Island Town now has a 4-1-0 record from eight starts and $328,223 in earnings for the ownership group including Bloch, Six Column Stables, John Seiler, and David Hall.

The Smarty Jones serves as the local prep for the upcoming $1 million Pennsylvania Derby (G2).
