Gun Song collected her second graded stakes win of her career Sept. 26 at Aqueduct when the 4-year-old Gun Runner filly out-footed Randomized through the stretch to win the Beldame S. (G2) by 1 ¼-lengths.

Gun Song, who won last year’s Black-Eyed Susan S. (G2), has also place in a trio of graded stakes. She is one of Gun Runner’s 11 graded winners and 17 overall stakes winners in 2025.

Facing just three foes in Friday’s 1 1/8-mile contest, Gun Song tracked closely in third, behind Randomized, for the first six furlongs. She shifted into the two-path turning for home and wore down Randomized through the stretch, pulling away late to win convincingly in 1:49.45 on a fast track.

“Very satisfying,” said winning trainer Mark Hennig. “When you kind of put one away in mid-July and say, ‘I’m going to point to one race in September,’ you’re putting some pressure on yourself. I said after that race in July that I’m just going to get her ready for one try, and if she runs well, we’ll talk about whether she deserves a trip to California [for the Breeders’ Cup]. I’m glad it went well.”

Owned by R. L. Lewis, Gun Song is now 5-5-2 in 16 starts and has earned $915,720. The chestnut filly was bred in Kentucky by Marianne Stribling and is out of Nicole H, herself a graded stakes winner of over $800,000.
