Fast Market showed a very swift turn of foot in the stretch to win the $175,000 Pebbles S. (G3) Nov. 23 at Aqueduct, the first stakes win for the 3-year-old Volatile filly.
A close second in last month’s Sands Point S. (G2), Fast Market is the third graded stakes winner this year for Volatile, tying him with fellow Second-Crops Mickinzie, Authentic and Complexity.
Volatile’s other 2025 graded winners are Southwest S. (G3) champ Speed King, and Tip Top Thomas, who set a track record in winning the Indiana Derby (G3).
Fast Market was last in the field of seven as they made their way around the first turn in the 1 1/16-mile turf affair. She settled nicely down the backstretch and edged slightly closer to the lead entering the far turn. Around the bend she was hemmed in between horses, then after straightening for home, had to move to the center of the track for clear running. When pacesetter Love You Anyway drifted in front of her with a furlong to go, Fast Market altered course a third time and flew past to win going away by 1 1/2-lengths.
The final time on the firm turf was 1:43.22.
“She’s so switched off and kind and classy,” trainer John Terranova said. “She is so nice to be around. She’s let us get away with quite a bit—we’ve sprinted her, done dirt and turf. She did have a few decent races on the dirt and she’s a big, strong filly, but she just took a little while for us to figure it all out.”
Fast Market now owns a record of 2-3-1 in 11 starts, with earnings of $228,788 for owner Hit The Bid Racing Stable. The bay filly sold for $350,000 at the 2024 OBS May sale.
Fast Market was bred in Kentucky by Breed First LLC.
