The Big Beast, a 3-year-old Yes It’s True colt, left a quality field in his wake Saturday at Saratoga, rolling to a 6 1/4-length victory after setting some torrid early fractions.
Yes It’s True is one of the nation’s leading sires of winners in 2014, with 94 to date. His progeny have earned $3.4 million this year, led by Grade 2 winner La Verdad.
Despite a the ultra-hot pace of :44.41 for a half-mile, The Big Beast did not relinquish the four length lead he had established at that point, stretching out his margin in the lane under a solid hand ride from Javier Castellano (VIDEO).
The Big Beast was a $150,000 OBS April 2-year-old sales grad after a :10 1/5 breeze during the under tack show. He is now 2-1-1 in four starts, upping his earnings to $115,500 after the $51,000 payday.
