Super Corredora earned herself a return trip to the Breeders’ Cup with her front-running score in Sunday’s Zenyatta S. (G2) at Santa Anita Park.
The now 3-year-old Gun Runner filly won last year’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) en route to her championship honors. The Zenyatta is part of the Breeders’ Cup Win and You’re In series, thus earning Super Corredora a fees-paid berth to the Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1) Oct. 31 at Keeneland.
Away from the races since early March, Super Corredora showed no signs of rustiness as she sprung right to the lead in Sunday’s 1 1/16-mile contest. Rabeeba, her closest pursuer for most of the race, offered only token pressure as Super Corredora clicked off six furlongs in 1:10.40. She responded very well when jockey Joel Rosario asked her at the top of the stretch, bounding clear and winning by 2 ¾-lengths over Majestic Oops.
“It’s first time against older and there were some nice horses in there, so I was really thrilled with her effort. She trained very well,” said trainer John Sadler.
Racing for the partnership of Spartan Equine Racing, West Point Thoroughbreds, Robert C. Gardiner, and Michael W. Olszewski, Super Corredora is 3-1-0 in seven starts and has earned $1,220,100. The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds, LLC and is the second foal out of Super Simple, who was bred to Gun Runner for 2027.
Super Corredora is one of 40 graded winners for Gun Runner as well as being one of three champions from his first five crops. Gun Runner is currently third on the 2026 General Sire list with nearly $18 million in progeny earnings.
