Foxiest muscled her way between horses at the top of the Churchill Downs stretch and rolled home a four-length winner in the 7 ½-furlong maiden special weight affair for 2-year-old fillies.
Foxiest is the 27th lifetime TDN ‘Rising Star’ for Gun Runner, who just wrapped up the Keeneland September sale with a record 15 million-dollar yearlings, as well as leading all sires by average sale price.
Foxiest, a daughter of two-time champion female sprinter Covfefe, tracked patiently in third for the long backstretch run, and continued to hold her spot along the inside as the field rounded the turn. Just after entering the stretch, she pushed her way between horses and quickly opened up by two lengths. Under a hand ride the rest of the way, she pulled away smartly and galloped out well ahead of the rest of the field.
Trained by Brad Cox, Foxiest is an LNJ Foxwoods homebred. Foxiest is the third foal out of Covfefe. Her first was stakes winner Ellen Jay.
