Three Chimneys’ First-Crop sire Strong Mandate chalked up two new maiden winners the week before Christmas, bringing his total to nine on the year.
Wicked Mandate broke her maiden in a thriller Dec. 21 at Gulfstream Park, nosing out Dalal by the narrowest of margins in a 5 1/2-furlong affair on the main track. Wicked Mandate is trained by Chad Summers for J Stables LLC and AG Family Racing LLC and was bred in Kentucky by Karen Johnson.
Earlier in the week Lavina tallied a six-length maiden special weight win at Remington Park. Owned by her trainer Ida Spagnola, Lavina is out of the More Than Ready mare Mizoes Ready and was bred by Center Hills Farm.
After breeding 108 mares in 2018, Strong Mandate will stand for $10,000 next year at Three Chimneys. He will be available for viewing at the farm’s January 6-10 open house, which runs daily from 10 a.m. to 1 p.m.
