Will Take Charge’s 2018 Keeneland September Yearling sales results hit a high-water mark on Wednesday when hip No. 544 brought a top bid of $525,000.
Consigned by Penn Sales, the bay colt was purchased by a partnership led by Albaugh Farm Stables. The colt is out of the top producer Unbridled Empire, whose foals include multiple graded stakes winners Maraud and Arklow from just three foals to race. Unbridled Empire is a half-sister to Grade 1 winners Fourty Niners Son and Cindy’s Hero.
Other Wednesday stars for Will Take Charge included hip No. 646, consigned by Rosilyn Polan and sold to Shadwell Estate Company for $280,000, and hip No. 589, consigned by Vinery Sales and purchased by White Birch Farm for $225,000.
Through the first three days of the Sept. 10-23 sale, Will Take Charge has had 10 lots sell for a robust average of $243,000.
