Sweet Diane strolled home a 13 3/4-length winner Friday in a maiden special weight at Penn National in her second lifetime start to give Will Take Charge his eighth winner from his first crop (VIDEO).
Will Take Charge’s runners have performed exceptionally in September, accounting for a win in the $100,000 Barretts Debutante S., stakes placings in both the Pocahontas S. (G2) and Ellis Park Juvenile, and four maiden special weight winners. He ranks third on the 2018 Freshman Sire list with nearly $500,000 in progeny earnings.
Beaten just a nose in her debut, Sweet Diane left no doubt as to who was best in Friday’s one-mile affair. She vied for the lead for five furlongs, then pulled away with complete authority to win as easy as possible.
Sweet Diane was a $130,000 purchase by her Stallionaire Enterprises at the 2017 Keeneland September Yearling sale. She is out of Inside Passage, a stakes-placed daughter of Tizow, who is a sister to six stakes winners.
