Ciaran’s Prize ventured into Canada and took the top prize in the $50,000 Assiniboia Oaks on Monday, giving Yes It’s True his 50th lifetime stakes winner and 95th lifetime stakes horse.
The 3-year-old filly had been competing in the upper Midwest up to this point, including a dominating 9 1/2-length allowance score last month at Canterbury Park. As she did then, she went right to the front and set all the pace, winning by three lengths with plenty of energy in reserve.
Ciaran’s Prize was bred in Florida by John Penn. Owner Jim Thares picked the filly out of the 2013 Barretts March 2-year-olds in Training sale, going to $45,000 to secure her. With Monday’s win, Ciaran’s Prize has now earned $77,800.
