For the second time in as many days Sharp Azteca tallied a double-digit winner with Alma Rosa rolling to a 10 ½-length maiden special weight winner on July 19 at Colonial Downs.

The dark bay filly was in a tussle for the lead through the first half-mile, then assumed command with a quarter-mile to go. She poured it on through the stretch to finish all alone in 1:10.48 on the fast main track (WATCH RACE).

Owned by her breeder Gelfenstein Farm, Alma Rosa is the 13th winner for red-hot Sharp Azteca, who leads the First-Crop sire list by five winners over Bolt d’Oro. Sharp Azteca’s 13 winners are led by Tyler’s Tribe, who is two-for-two lifetime and won his stakes debut in the $100,000 Prairie Gold Juvenile S. on July 9.
