Fast Anna’s 2-year-old filly Been Studying Her won her second stakes in her four lifetime starts with a 3 1/4-length victory in Friday’s $200,000 Golden State Juvenile Fillies S. at Santa Anita Park.
The KMN Racing homebred has now won three of four starts, including the Generous Portion S., and earned $205,280. Out of Maddie’s Odyssey, Been Studying Her is a half-sister to stakes winners Grecian Fire and Sneaking Out.
Breaking alertly from post 10 in the seven-furlong race, Been Studying Her backed off the lead to be seventh after a quarter-mile. She began to make up ground three-wide on the turn, and emerged with the lead at the top of the stretch. Bounding away from the field, she coasted home in 1:25.25 on the fast main track.
“She absolutely cruised. I don’t think she took a breath,” said winning rider Mike Smith. “We left the gate well and relaxed and got into her rhythm. I stayed out of her way. I tickled her on the turn and she took off. It got me to thinking maybe we should have run her later in the day.”
Fast Anna’s first crop includes three stakes winners and 10 winners overall. He will be available for viewing at the Three Chimneys open house, which runs Nov. 4-8.
