Maybe I Will won a stretch-long duel by a neck to capture Sunday’s Hastings S. at Emerald Downs, the first career stakes victory for the 4-year-old Will Take Charge filly (WATCH RACE).

The winner is the fifth stakes winner this year for her sire, joining the likes of Hollywood Gold Cup (G1) hero There Goes Harvard and W. L. McKnight (G3) champ Abaan.

Maybe I Will sat a good trip from post six, tracking in third while never more than two lengths from the lead. She inched closer to the front around the turn and was on even terms with Ima Happy Cat coming into the stretch. Those two dueled the rest of the way, with Maybe I Will edging clear late and holding off a closing Blazingbellablu to get the six furlongs on 1:08.38.

Maybe I will, who has earned $125,326, is owned by Fairview, LLC and was bred by Thomas Bachman. She is the second foal out of My Due Process, who was a stakes winner at two.
