Disruptor’s sharp score in Saturday’s Challenger S. (G3) at Tampa Bay Downs stamped the 4-year-old son of Gun Runner as a horse to watch in this year’s older male division.
Making his second start of the year following a 10-month layoff, Disruptor scored by one length over graded stakes winner Disco Time in the 1 1/16-mile contest on the main track.
Disruptor stalked the pace set by Paynter’s Prodigy, who gave way entering the far turn. Disco Time launched his bid as well and took the lead from Disruptor entering the stretch. Disruptor responded with an extremely game effort and pulled away in the final sixteenth to secure the win.
Owned Repole Stable, Spendthrift Farm LLC, Big Easy Racing LLC, Titletown Racing LLC, Winners Win, Golconda Stable, Ali Goodrich and Mark Parkinson, Disruptor is 3-0-1 in five starts and has earned $155,125. The chestnut colt was bred in Kentucky by Runnymede Farm LLC & Peter J. Callahan and sold for $1.15 million to his owners at the 2023 Keeneland September sale.
