Making her first start around two turns, Three Chimneys and Besilu Stables’ Divine Praises cleared off to a 1 ¾-length maiden special weight score on Friday at Churchill Downs.
After finishing second on May 9 in a one mile contest, 3-year-old Divine Praises was ready for the extra sixteenth on Friday. Getting a perfect stalking trip while well off the rail, the homebred filly took over the lead in mid-stretch and pulled away for an authoritative win.
By Medaglia d’Oro, Divine Praises is out of the stakes winning mare Grand Prayer, who has already produced Grade 1 Ruffian H. winner Malibu Prayer and the multiple graded stakes winner Valid.
Divine Praises, who debuted last year at Saratoga with a third against future Grade 1 winner Top Decile, is now 1-1-1 in three starts and has earned $50,820 for her connections and trainer Bill Mott.
