Fast Anna got his third stakes winner on Aug. 28 when Been Studying Her won her stakes debut in the $100,000 Generous Portion S. at Del Mar.
Fast Anna is the only First-Crop sire of 2019 who has three stakes winners, all whom scored maiden special weight wins before earning black type. The Three Chimneys stallion has seven winners overall, coming at seven different racetracks.
Breaking like a shot out of the gate, Been Studying Her was in front right away, but backed off when others were intent on getting the lead. She began to advance from fifth entering the turn and came away with the lead at the top of the stretch, then steadily edged away to win by 1 1/4-lengths in 1:11.56 for the six furlongs.
“I got on her about a week ago and she showed so much class. Of course, she’s from a really good family,” said her Hall of Fame jockey Mike Smith. “She ran to that class today. She relaxed for me going down the backside, and when an outside horse came up and I felt like they were going to pressure her, I kind of backed off but then when I asked she was ready. She pretty much did everything right today. ”
Been Studying Her won her debut on July 20 and is 2-for-2 with earnings of $77,280 for KMN Racing, also her breeder. She is out of the prolific mare Maddie’s Oddyssey, who has already produced three stakes winners, led by Grade 3 winner Grecian Fire.
