Palace Malice got his second graded stakes winner of the year on Friday evening when Fly On Angel went gate-to-wire to win the $200,000 Charles Town Oaks (G3) by a half-length over Wicked Whisper.

Palace Malice now has three stakes winners and five stakes horses overall this year, both ranking him in the Top 10 on the Second-Crop sire list.

Fly On Angel caught a flyer out of the gate and quickly took command in the seven-furlong race.  Despite setting a rapid pace of :46.25 for the half-mile, the dark bay 3-year-old had enough left to hold off the runner up to claim her fourth lifetime win in nine starts.

The winner is owned by Joseph Besecker and has earned $225,160. She was bred by Machmer Hall & Haymarket Farm and is out of the stakes-placed mare Runge.
