Funtastic’s $150,000 colt, Hip 697, at the 2021 Fasig-Tipton October Sale – photo by Z

A very uniquely-marked colt from the first crop of Grade 1 winner Funtastic sold for $150,000 during Tuesday’s session of the Fasig-Tipton October Yearling sale in central Kentucky.

The gray or roan colt, consigned by Taylor Made Sales Agency and catalogued as hip No. 697, went to Hall of Fame trainer Steve Asmussen.

The beautifully-bred colt is the second foal out of the unraced War Front mare Upfront Girl, who is a half-sister to $2 million earner and multiple Grade 1 winner Cavorting. In turn, Cavorting is the dam of Clariere, winner of this year’s Cotillion S. (G1) who is scheduled to run in the Nov. 6 Breeders’ Cup Distaff (G1).

Funtastic, winner of the historic United Nations S. (G1), is a half-brother to the dam of Three Chimneys’ leading First-Crop sire Gun Runner, as well as to Horse of the Year Saint Liam. Funtastic will stand at Three Chimneys for $5,000 S&N in 2022.
