Gun Runner got his fifth stakes winner from his first crop on Sunday when Concept turned back a pair of challengers to win the $75,000 Kip Deville S. at Remington Park (WATCH RACE).

Though still a maiden going into the six-furlong contest, Concept proved up to the task with a very gritty effort. He was away quickly from post four to take the lead, with Malibu Thunder right at his side. Malibu Thunder went wide into the turn, leaving Tejano Twist to take up the chase. Concept repelled him in the final furlong to win by 1 ½-lengths in 1:10.12.

Owned and bred by Tony Holmes and Winchell Thoroughbreds, Concept has now earned $52,362 in three starts. He is out of Mystic Jewel, who is a half-sister to multiple Grade 1 winner and millionaire Evening Jewel.

Gun Runner leads the First-Crop Sire list by stakes winners, graded stakes winners, and grade one winners, as well as by progeny earnings, with $1.46 million to date.
