Gun Runner held his spot atop the First-Crop Sires of 2-year-olds at auction with a $400,000 colt during Tuesday’s closing session of the Fasig-Tipton Midlantic sale.

Consigned by Sequel Bloodstock, agent, hip No. 416 went to Lael Stable.

The regally-bred bay was bred in Kentucky by Lakland Farm. He is out of the stakes performer Day of Victory, also the dam Finley’sluckycharm, winner of five graded stakes and nearly $1 million. This is also the family of multiple Grade 1 winner Pure Clan and Kentucky Jockey Club (G2) winner Greater Good.

With a dozen juveniles sold to this point of the 2-year-old auction season, Gun Runner’s average price stands at $338,166. His first crop has made an immediate impact on the track as well, with a maiden special weight winners at Gulfstream Park and Churchill Downs from his first four runners.
