Cyberknife stretched out to two turns for the first time to gamely break his maiden in a 1 1/16-mile maiden special weight win at Fair Grounds (WATCH RACE).

The chestnut colt was the second winner on the day for Gun Runner, who leads the First-Crop sire list with 26 winners that have accounted for 37 victories, seven them coming in stakes races.

Cyberknife got a three-wide trip around the first turn following a good start that found him just outside of pacesetters Jeeper and Art Heist. Florent Geroux waiting until entering the final bend to ask Cyberknife, and he responded immediately to take the lead. Jeeper was his closest pursuer the rest of the way, with the final margin a half-length at the wire.

The winner is trained by Brad Cox for owner Gold Square LLC and sold for $400,000 at the 2020 Fasig-Tiption Kentucky Select Yearling sale, where he was consigned by his breeder Ramsey Farm. Cyberknife’s dam Awesome Flower was a six-time stakes winner and is from the family of Dubai World Cup (G1) winner Well Armed.
