Joyrunner blitzed her foes by 8 1/4-lengths in a six-furlong allowance victory on Aug. 23 at Indiana Grand for her second win in as many starts.

The 2-year-old Gun Runner filly won her July 8 maiden special weight debut from well off the pace, but was much closer in the early going for Monday’s win. She was never more than two lengths from the lead at any point, and took over for good approaching the quarter-mile mark. She drew off at will from there and was hand-ridden to the wire to win as much the best in 1:10.89 on a fast main track.

Trained by Laura Wohlers for Jim McIngvale, Joyrunner sold to her owner for $145,000 at the 2020 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Joyrunner was bred by Dark Hollow Farm and is the third foal out of three-time stakes winner Joy, who is a half-sister to four-time stakes winner O Dionysus. This is also the family of champion female Safely Kept and Grade 2 winner Partner’s Hero.

With the likes of Grade 2 winners Wicked Halo and Pappacap, Gun Runner is leading the First-Crop Sire list by Graded Stakes winners, Graded Stakes horses, and progeny earnings.
