Leading First-Crop sire Gun Runner got his 16th winner of the year on Oct. 21 in the second race at Keeneland when the 2-year-old filly Society won her debut at 6 ½-furlongs.

Society, ridden by Julie Burke, was well off the pace early on before she began to make up ground on the turn. She threaded her way between and then around horses at the top of the stretch before running down Hypersport in the final sixteenth to win by a length.

Society is trained by Wayne Mackey for her owner/breeder Peter E. Blum Thoroughbreds. The chestnut filly is the second foal out of Etiquette, whose half-brother Pleasant Prince won the Ohio Derby (G3) and another pair of listed stakes.

Gun Runner, who tops the First-Crop sire list by graded stakes winners and horses, will stand the 2022 season at Three Chimneys for $125,000 S&N.
