The list of 2025 Eclipse Award finalists, released on Jan. 4, included three horses by Gun Runner, all Grade 1 winners in their respective divisions.

The nominees are Brant in the 2-year-old male category, Sierra Leone in the older male category, and Super Corredora in the 2-year-old filly category.

Brant, who was a record $3 million purchase by Zedan Racing Stables Inc. at the 2025 OBS March sale, won the Del Mar Futurity after earning a TDN Rising Star following his debut romp. In his first two-turn race, he was beaten less than two lengths in the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile. Brant was bred in Kentucky by PTK, LLC.

Sierra Leone, Gun Runner’s lifetime leading earner at $8,196,200, won the Whitney S. (G1) and was a narrow second in the Breeders’ Cup Classic (G1), a race he won in 2024 that earned him the 3-year-old male Eclipse Award that year. Sierra Leone retired following the Breeders’ Cup after having never finished off the board in 12 straight graded stakes. The dark bay is owned by Peter Brant, Mrs. John Magnier, John Tabor, Michael Smith and Derrick Westerberg and was bred in Kentucky by Debby Oxley.

Super Corredora won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies (G1) in her first stakes start, which came after breaking her maiden by 8 ¼-lengths. A $400,000 Keeneland September yearling, Super Corredora is owned by Spartan Equine Racing LLC, West Point Thoroughbreds, Robert C. Gardiner and Michael Olszewski. The bay filly was bred in Kentucky by Woodford Thoroughbreds, LLC.

Winners will be announced on FanDuel TV, and other outlets, during the 55th Annual Resolute Racing Eclipse Awards, presented by John Deere, The Jockey Club and the NTRA, on Thursday, Jan. 22 at 7:30 p.m. ET.
