Funny Business forged past a stubborn Lady Arsinoe in midstretch to win her debut Friday on the opening day of the Keeneland Fall Meet.

The 2-year-old filly is Gun Runner’s 14th First-Crop winner. The Three Chimneys stallion leads the Freshman Sire list in several categories. With stakes entries in both the Breeders’ Futurity (G1) and Bourbon S. (G2) over the weekend, he has two opportunities to add to his four graded stakes winners to date.

Funny Business overcame her outside post in the field of 12 with a quick start that put her within a length of the lead in the first quarter-mile. She held her spot around the turn, then overtook Lady Arsinoe and held off a late charge by Halo of Fire to win by 1 ¼-lengths.

The final time for the six furlongs was a solid 1:10.88.

The winner races for her breeders Fred Hertrich III and John Fielding. The chestnut filly’s dam Hearty Laugh is out of Justenuffheart, who is also the dam of champion 2-year-old filly Dreaming of Anna, as well asa multiple Grade 2 winners Lewis Michael and Justenuffhumor.
