Optionality rolled to an 8 ¼-length victory in the $100,000 Trapeze S. Friday night at Remington Park, giving the 2-year-old Gun Runner filly a third straight win and second in a row in a stakes race (WATCH RACE).

Owned and bred by Winchell Thoroughbreds, Optionality’s three wins have come by a combined 21 ½-lengths. She has now earned $124,000 and is one of six stakes winners for leading First-Crop sire Gun Runner.

Optionality, with Jose Ortiz aboard, sat patiently in second behind Hits Pricey Legacy for the first five furlongs, then easily took command on the far turn. She dispatched the rest of the field and the top of the stretch, drawing off to get the mile in 1:41.10 on a fast track.

“She’s a very versatile filly,” said winning trainer Steve Asmussen. “I’m so proud to have another Gun Runner that can do this. She’s won at three tracks, at two distances with three different jockeys. This was a good effort (for her first time) at one mile.”

Optionality has a yearling full-brother, while her stakes-winning half-sister Simple Surprise is the dam of Winchell’s 2021 Hopeful S. (G1) winner Gunite.
