Introduction

Many thanks for your interest in Three Chimneys Farm and our internship/employment opportunities.

Three Chimneys is a Thoroughbred nursery that houses 200 plus horses – stallions, mares, foals, yearlings and rehabilitating racehorses – on over 1,000 acres of prime bluegrass pasture in Central Kentucky. For ourselves and our clients, we breed Thoroughbred horses that may be retained for racing or sold at public auction as racing prospects. For more information about the farm, please see our website at www.threechimneys.com.

Described below are the internships that Three Chimneys is currently seeking to fill. These internships are paid and, depending on availability, may come with on farm or local housing. In the event that on farm housing is not available, we will assist you in finding nearby housing that is safe, affordable and convenient to the farm and local amenities. Transportation to and from work or for any domestic/recreational purposes is the sole responsibility of the intern.

For both internships described herein, successful applicants must be prepared to work long hours (48-60 hours/week, 7:00am-4:00pm+, 6 days/week) of active, physical labor that require reasonable physical strength and fitness combined with attention to detail and a solid foundation of horsemanship. These internships are not for beginners to horse handling; they are better suited to individuals with intermediate to advanced horsemanship skills that are prepared to work hard to further develop their understanding of and competency with horses through work experience on a commercial breeding farm.
