Palace Malice got off to a terrific start with his runners on Thursday when his very first starter Letsstaypositive scored a decisive four-length win in a 4 1/2-furlong Keeneland maiden special weight affair for 2-year-old fillies.
Away from the gate very quickly, the Wesley Ward trainee was up by some four lengths in the first quarter-mile and maintained her advantage all the way to the wire to finish the distance in :52.37 on a fast main track.
The winner is owned by Jeff Morris and Constance Wickes and was bred in Kentucky by Highclere Inc. and Springtown Show Stables. She is the first foal out of the stakes-placed Jazzminegem, whose half-brother Notacatbutallama was a multiple graded winner.
Besides Letsstaypositive’s sterling victory, Palace Malice has had an excellent week at the OBS Spring Sale of 2-year-olds in Training in Florida, with a $550,000 colt and $220,000 topping his results through the first three days of the April 23-26 auction.
