Palace Malice’s first of two maiden special weight winners Saturday at Churchill Downs came in the fourth race when Maga Suite won a 5 1/2-furlong turf race by 1 1/4-lengths.

Later on the card, the well-regarded Mr. Monomoy was an impressive winner on the main track, giving Palace Malice his second maiden special weight winner of the day and upping his First-Crop total to 15 winners and his progeny earning over the $1.5 million mark.

Maga Suite was making her turf debut following a pair of main track efforts. Tucked in fourth on the fence until the top of the stretch, the dark bay swung into the three path in upper stretch and soon made the lead, then held off the late charge of another Palace Malice filly, Kona Kai, to secure the win (VIDEO).

Maga Suite is owned by TOLO Thoroughbreds and Iron Oaks Farm, LLC. She was bred in Kentucky by Hartmuth Malluche and Silesia Farm. Out of Guest House, Maga Suite is a half-sister to LeComte S. (G3) winner Guest Suite. Her third dam is Weekend Surprise, the dam of A.P. Indy and Summer Squall.
