Three Chimneys Farm’s homebred filly Magic Dance ran her record to two-for-two with her victory in the $125,000 Debutante S. at Churchill Downs. The 2-year-old filly scored a convincing maiden win over the same track on June 7.
Sent off the favorite in the six-furlong affair, Magic Dance stalked the pace most of the way, then surged past Cholula Lips in mid-stretch, winning by 1 1/2-lengths in 1:10.26.
Out of Magical World, Magic Dance is a half-sister to Three Chimneys’ brilliant 3-year-old filly Guarana, who like her sister, is undefeated in two starts, including a win in the Acorn S. (G1) on June 8.
Magic Dance’s next start is undetermined, but she is likely headed to Saratoga according to trainer Steve Asmussen.
“She’ll go to Saratoga, whether she runs there or not,” said Asmussen. “For a 2-year-old filly to go 1:10 and one this time of year is very impressive.”
