Exchange Rate’s Miss Ella got the Belmont Park fall meet off to a good start for her sire with a well-earned victory in the $100,000 Christiecat S., the opening day feature on the Sept. 11 card.

Exchange Rate is the sire of nine graded stakes winners in 2015, including Miss Ella, and has progeny earnings of $3.1 million this year.

Trained by Graham Motion for Jack Swain III, Miss Ella took Friday’s six furlong race, which was moved from the turf to the main track, by a neck after a three-way stretch-long battle with Darling Sky, who finished three-quarters of a length in front of third-place finisher Spark.

Winner of the Grade 2 Beaumont S. this spring at Keeneland, 3-year-old Miss Ella is now 3-1-0 in six starts and has earned $279,000.
