Multiple Grade 1 winner Palace Malice’s initial 2-year-old offered during Tuesday’s opening session of the March 12-13 OBS 2-year-olds in Training sale brought a final bid of $200,000 from Christina Jelm, agent.
The price was better than 13 times the Three Chimneys stallion’s stud fee.
Crupi’s New Castle Farm, agent, consigned the colt, hip No. 90. The Kentucky-bred chestnut is out of the Deputy Minister mare Christie Village, who is a half-sister to Broodmare of the Year and Grade 1 winner Take Charge Lady, the dam 3-year-old champion colt and Three Chimneys stallion Will Take Charge, as well as Grade 1 winner Take Charge Indy.
Wednesday’s closing session of the auction will feature seven more lots by Palace Malice.
