Prince Abu Dhabi rallied from well of the pace to win the Aug. 13 Muckleshoot Derby by a widening 1 ¾-lengths over Deshambeau at Emerald Downs.

The consistent 3-year-old son of Palace Malice took the California Derby in late April and has also placed in both the Alcatraz S., also at Golden Gate Fields, and the Los Alamitos Derby in July.

Prince Abu Dhabi was unhurried in the early stages of Sunday’s 1 1/16-mile race, some six lengths from the lead at the half-way point. He commenced a three-wide rally entering the final turn and came into the homestretch battling for the lead with Deshambeau. Those two raced together for a furlong before Prince Abu Dhabi asserted himself to win with authority.

The winner is owned by Lance and Steve Kinross and is an excellent 5-0-2 in seven starts, with earnings of $166,700.

Prince Abu Dhabi was bred in Kentucky by Colts Neck Stables LLC and is out of American Girl (IRE), who is also the dam of stakes winner Emblem Storm and stakes-placed Mac the Pee H Dee.
