Precious Meadow gave Sharp Azteca his first graded winner of 2023 with a half-dozen length win on New Year’s Day in the Clasico Versets Jet S. (G3) at Camarero Race Track in Puerto Rico.

The newly-turned 3-year-old was second in her debut, also a graded stakes, in October. Owned by the Sonata Stable, Precious Meadow 1-1-0 in three starts.

Precious Meadow was ridden like a winner the entire one-mile trip. He was wide into the first turn and took the lead willingly going onto the backstretch. He was up by five lengths after six furlongs and was hand-ridden home to score the easiest of wins.

Precious Meadow, bred by Machmer Hall and Carrie & Craig Brogden, sold for $120,000 at the 2021 Keeneland September Yearling sale.

Precious Meadow is the fourth stakes winner and sixth stakes horse by Sharp Azteca, who led all Freshman sires of 2022 with 35 individual winners.
