Strong Mandate’s had the top filly and second-best overall price at Tuesday’s Fasig-Tipton July Sale brought when hip No. 231 brought a winning bid of $435,000.
Denali Stud consigned the filly, with Alex and Jo Ann Lieblong the winning bidders.
“She is just a nice, nice filly,” said Alex after signing the ticket. “I really like the Strong Mandates, and she has a Giant’s Causeway mare under her so if she proves she can do something she ought to have pretty good value.”
“She was a gorgeous filly and the right guys lined up on her,” added Craig Bandoroff of Denali Stud. “She is a beautiful physical. She has residual value. We told people you pick up black type and she’s worth a lot of money. She showed fantastic every single time.
The bay filly is out of Fly the Flag, a daughter of multiple Grade 1 winner My Flag and a half-sister to champion filly Storm Flag Flying.
Strong Mandate, whose first crop are 2-year-olds of 2018, was represented by his first winner on June 17 at Arlington Park when Strong Will won his debut by 2 1/4-lengths.
