Three Chimneys has acquired a majority interest in Medaglia d’Oro’s regally bred son Fast Anna who will take up stud duty in 2016.
“Fast Anna absolutely captured me the first time I saw him in the paddock prior to the King’s Bishop (G1) last year. He is drop dead gorgeous,” said Doug Cauthen, Vice Chairman of the Three Chimneys Board. “When he ran a gutsy front running second just getting nabbed on the wire in Saratoga’s premier sprint race for three year olds, it confirmed that he was something very special. I’ve been after him ever since, and though some bad luck limited his 2015 campaign, I emphatically believe that he is a serious stallion prospect. His speed was brilliant, and the fact that he’s out of a Breeders’ Cup champion Rahy mare only adds to my enthusiasm. Once anyone sees him they will understand my excitement,” added Cauthen.
Bred and raced by Frank Calabrese, Fast Annaflashed speed and brilliance in his first two starts, winning his first race by two and a quarter lengths over nine rivals including Rock Fall. Fast Anna won his second start by 13 lengths in a gallop. In his third start and stakes debut, Fast Anna nearly pulled off the hat trick in the Grade One King’s Bishop, narrowly beaten on the wire by The Big Beast. Fast Anna followed up the King’s Bishop with a runner up performance in the Grade 2 $300,000 Gallant Bob to Multiple Graded Stakes winner Favorite Tale, after battling through fractions of 21.33 and 43.38. Then it was on to the Breeders’ Cup Sprint, where the strikingly handsome Fast Anna caught everyone’s attention on the track in preparation for his Breeders’ Cup bid.
After his final Breeders’ Cup Sprint breeze, Hall of Famer Bob Baffert said, “That’s the fastest work I’ve ever seen over this track. They usually stop in the final eighth when they go that fast, but he kept going. That is wicked speed.” In the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1), Fast Anna blazed through fractions of 21.19, 43.34 and 55.38, and hung on to be beaten less than two and a half lengths against older foes. It was a commendable effort considering that only one three year old has ever won the Breeders’ Cup Sprint (G1). In 2015, Fast Anna won the Sawgrass Handicap as highweight, and placed in two other stakes prior to his retirement from racing.

His dam Dreaming OfAnna was an undefeated two year old that won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies, an Eclipse Award, and retired with earnings over $2 million dollars. On top of that, she is out of a half-sister to Champion Sire Kitten’s Joy.Three Chimneys has already hand-picked ten mares from the broodmare band for him, and we will be looking for more. We believe in him, and he will get every opportunity to succeed.”
