MIDWAY, KY — Three Chimneys Farm announced today its stallion roster and fees for the upcoming
2027 breeding season, led again by Horse of the Year, Hall of Famer and breed-shaping sire Gun
Runner, whose fee will be Private following another historic year in both the sales ring and on the
racetrack.
“We are excited to see Gun Runner’s continued success on the track and in the sales ring. We look
forward to showcasing Newgate’s and Gun Pilot’s first-crop weanlings this November. We are also
pleased to have Gun Runner’s Grade 1 half-brother Ottinho join our roster,” said Rebecca Nicholson,
Three Chimneys Director of Stallion Nominations.
Three Chimneys will host an Open House on November 2-8 from 10am-1pm daily for breeders to
inspect the full roster of stallions for the upcoming 2027 breeding season.
Gun Runner has continued to establish new standards of excellence in 2026, becoming the first stallion
in history to sire 25 seven-figure yearlings sold at public auction in a single year, remarkably
representing nearly a third of his yearlings sold. His record-breaking season included 10 million-dollar
yearlings at the Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Sale, another first for any stallion, and 10 seven-figure yearlings
during the opening session of Book One at last month’s Keeneland September Sale.
On the racetrack, Gun Runner has added four new Grade 1 winners in 2026, including Kentucky Oaks
(G1) winner Always a Runner, Travers Stakes (G1) winner Leading Change, Blue Grass Stakes (G1)
winner Further Ado and Alabama Stakes (G1) winner My Gun's Loaded. He has now sired 16 Grade 1
winners to date.
Joining the roster for 2027 is Gun Runner’s half-brother Ottinho, the Grade 1-performing 3-year-old
who qualified for the Kentucky Derby after a runner-up effort in the $1,250,000 Blue Grass Stakes (G1)
at Keeneland. By leading sire Quality Road, Ottinho offers breeders access to one of the most
distinguished families in the American stud book. His introductory stud fee will be $7,500 LFSN, and
breeders can get a first look at Ottinho at the upcoming Open House.
Volatile, the Grade 1-winning son of Violence who has proven to be one of the industry’s leading
influences of speed, will have his 2027 fee announced after the Breeders’ Cup. He is set to have multiple
starters competing in prominent dirt races in Saturday’s Breeders’ Cup at Keeneland, including Grade 1
winner T O Elvis, a top contender in the $2,000,000 Sprint (G1), and $700,000 earner Foie Gras, a
contender in the $1,000,000 Filly & Mare Sprint (G1). Volatile has been well represented in the
commercial market this year, with 2-year-olds selling up to $650,000 and yearlings selling up to
$525,000. He has 8 stakes winners to date in 2026, including Three Chimneys homebred Igniter, four-
length winner of the $400,000 Ellis Park Derby.
Gun Pilot and Newgate, two of Three Chimneys’ promising young Grade 1 winners at stud, are both set
to have their first crops of weanlings hit the marketplace at the upcoming Fasig-Tipton November and
Keeneland November sales in Lexington.
Gun Pilot, the Grade 1-winning millionaire son of Gun Runner, will stand his third season at stud in
2027 for $12,500 LFSN. Winner of the $1 million Churchill Downs Stakes (G1), Gun Pilot’s first
weanlings have already been popular in the sales ring, highlighted by individuals selling for $105,000
and $100,000 at the recent Fasig-Tipton Saratoga Fall Sale.
Newgate, the Grade 1-winning son of Into Mischief, will stand for $10,000 LFSN this upcoming season.
An $850,000 yearling turned Santa Anita Handicap (G1) winner, Newgate continues to offer breeders a
physical standout by leading sire Into Mischief to go along with his top-level racing credentials.
Grade 1 winner Funtastic will stand for $5,000 LFSN in 2027. His current top performers include graded
stakes winners First Peace, a Grade 2 winner of $803,860, and Funtastic Again, a Grade 3 winner of
$647,160.
