Sharp Azteca’s brilliant 2-year-old son Tyler’s Tribe was dominant once again in Saturday’s Iowa Stallion Futurity, rolling home by 12 ½-lengths against a clearly outclassed field (WATCH RACE).

After breaking his maiden on June 20 by a whopping 16 ¾-lengths, he returned two weeks later to take the Prairie Gold Juvenile by 8 ½. Saturday’s stellar performance gives him three victories by a total of 37 ¾-lengths.

With Sharp Aza Tack winning Saturday’s Tyro S. at Monmouth Park, Sharp Azteca joined Justify as one of only two First-Crop sires with two stakes winners.

Just as he’s done in his prior two outings, Tyler’s Tribe went right to the lead. Ain’t So Bad offered chase, but Tyler’s Tribe shook clear going into the turn. He was up by a half-dozen lengths at the top of the stretch and widened from there, despite being hand-ridden the entire way. His final time of 1:04.18 for the five furlongs on a fast track was good for an excellent Beyer Speed Figure of 90.

Tyler’s Tribe is owned by his trainer Tim Martin in partnership with Tom Lepic. He was bred by Clifton Farm and Derek Merkler.
