Gun Runner now has 14 stakes winners in 2025 after Jumping the Gun rolled to a 4 ¼-length win in the Aug. 14th Blue Hen S. at Delaware Park [WATCH RACE].

The 2-year-old filly was facing black-type competition for the first time following her debut maiden win on July 3.

After a sharp break, Jumping the Gun settled several lengths off the pace on the backstretch. She began her run for the lead entering the turn, ultimately challenging Lilies N Paradise for the top spot outside the quarter pole. She began to kick clear with a furlong to go and came home an easy winner in 1:12 flat for the six furlongs on a “good” main track.

“Since I have had her, she has never done anything wrong,” winning trainer Andrew Simoff said. “When she went past the five-eighths, I was a little concerned, but when I saw (jockey) Julio (Hernandez) stand up, I knew he had a lot of horse and we were in good shape.”

Owned by Imaginary Stables, Jumping the Gun has won $88,750 in her two wins. She was bred in Kentucky by John Guarnere.
