Palace Malice’s Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Turf (G1) winner was named a finalist for the 2-year-old Male Eclipse Award when the list was released on Saturday. The award ceremony will be on Jan. 23 at Gulfstream Park.

Structor, who was bred by Three Chimneys Farm, kicked off his 2-year-old season with a maiden special weight win Aug. 31 on the turf at Saratoga. He then followed that up with a game victory in the Pilgrim S. (G3) a month later over the Belmont Park lawn. Shipped to Santa Anita Park for the Breeders’ Cup, he roared home from 11th place to win the Breeders’ Cup and wrap up his perfect season.

Structor is the first foal out of Miss Always Ready, whose full sister More Than Real won the Breeders’ Cup Juvenile Fillies Turf (G2). The bay colt sold for $850,000 at the OBS March 2-year-old sale, the highest price paid for a Palace Malice 2-year-old last year.

Stuctor was the leading earner and one of five stakes horses last year from Palace Malice’s first crop. He finished 2019 ranked third on the First-Crop Sire list with over $1.7 million in progeny earnings. He will stand the 2020 season at Three Chimneys for $25,000, stands and nurses.
