Creole Chrome led at every point of call in Saturday’s $100,000 Star Guitar S. at Fair Grounds, rolling home a 6 ¾-length winner to give the 3-year-old Volatile colt his first stakes win.

Creole Chrome capped an excellent February for Volatile, with Great White taking the John Battaglia Memorial S. a week ago, and Foie Gras winning the Bugler S. on Feb. 6.

Creole Chrome, who had never been on the lead early in any of his three prior starts, was keen to set the pace and opened up a two-length lead in the first quarter-mile. He had things his own way as he posted a half-mile of :48.97 and six furlongs in 1:13.39. He began to draw clear after turning for home and was all alone in the final furlong to win very handily.

A winner of three of four starts, with one third in the Louisiana Juvenile S., Creole Chrome has earned $139,150 for Three Diamonds Farm. The flashy chestnut was bred by Gulf Haven Farms, LLC and is out of Funny Moon, winner of the Coaching Club American Oaks (G1) and Shuvee H. (G2). This is also the family of champions Vanlandingham and Temperence Hill.
