Volatile’s first offering at the 2026 OBS March 2-year-olds in Training sale sold for 30 times his stud fee when a colt consigned by Sequel Bloodstock, agent, sold for $300,000 on Tuesday afternoon.
Cataloged as hip No. 157, the colt was signed for by Kerry Radcliffe on behalf of Lady Sheila Stable, LLC. Prior to the sale, the gray/roan New York-bred had worked a furlong in a swift 10 seconds flat.
The colt is out of Mighty Fine, who is a half-sister to Sham S. (G3) winner and multiple Grade 1-placed Calculator as well as stakes winner Arms Runner.
With a trio of stakes horses this year, the momentum from 2025, when Volatile had the same number of graded stakes winners as Tapit, Constitution, Liam’s Map and Street Sense, is continuing to build. Volatile also has promising 3-year-olds Great White, winner of the John Battaglia Memorial S. who is pointing for the Blue Grass S. (G1), and recent allowance winner Igniter, who is entered in the Jimmy Winkfield S. March 14 at Aqueduct.
