Volatile had one of the top half-dozen colts during Monday’s opening session of the 2026 Fasig-Tipton Midlantic 2yos in Training sale when hip No. 13 brought a winning bid of $650,000 from Zedan Racing.
The gray/roan colt was consigned by Cran Thoroughbred Services, agent, with Donato Lanni doing the bidding on behalf of Zedan.
The colt is out of the Pulpit mare Yadira and is a half-brother to stakes-placed Cibolian. Yadira has three graded stakes-winning siblings: $1.5 million earner Mr Freeze and Grade 3 winners Dilemma and Heavenly Ransom.
Volatile’s hot start in 2026 has put him currently in third on the Third-Crop Sire list. Among his nine stakes horses is T O Elvis, who set a stakes record in the $1 million Churchill Downs S. (G1) on Derby Day. This past weekend, Volatile’s Faust was runner-up in the Maryland Sprint S. (G3) and prior stakes winner Igniter ran third in the Chick Lang S., both at Laurel Park.
