Manny Wah out-fought Bizzee Channel to win a 5 1/2-furlong maiden special weight 2-year-old contest July 21 at Arlington Park, making the chestnut colt the second winner for First-Crop Sire Will Take Charge.
In addition to his two winners to date, Will Take Charge got his first stakes horse on July 14 when Red Zinger finished third in the $100,000 Rockville Centre S. at Belmont Park.
Manny Wah broke very sharp but was soon confronted by Bizzee Channel in the first quarter-mile. The two raced as a team for the rest of the trip, with Manny Wah prevailing by a head in a very game effort. The final time for the 5 1/2-furlongs was a very good 1:04.40 (VIDEO).
Manny Wah was bred by Martha Jane Mulholland and Modo Tesio Equine and is owned by Susan Moulton, who bought the colt for $175,000 at the 2017 Fasig-Tipton Kentucky Summer Yearlings sale. Manny Wah’s dam Battlefield Angel is a sister to this year’s Peter Pan S. (G3) and Jeff Ruby S. (G3) winner Blended Citizen, as well as last year’s Kentucky Derby (G1) runner-up Lookin At Lee.
