Running Away scampered to a 4 ½-length victory in Wednesday’s $150,000 Horseshoe Indianapolis H. to give the 3-year-old Gun Runner filly her second career stakes win.

The race was moved from the turf to the main track following heavy rains in the area.

The chestnut filly was in control of the pace from the outset of the 1 mile and 70-yard event. Going along easily through fractions of :46.94 and 1:11.38, Running Away had a two-length lead turning for home. She fended off the charge of Junta in mid-stretch to draw off for the win. The final time on the sloppy track was 1:42.72.

Owned by her breeder Stud TNT, Running Away won the Busanda S. in January and is now 3-1-1 in six starts, with earnings of $266,250.

“She (Running Away) had good works coming into the race and she likes to be on the lead,” said Luis Etteggui, racing manager for Stud TNT. “She has run on the grass before but she’s really better on the dirt, so (trainer) Wesley (Ward) wanted to take a shot that this race would be run over the dirt, and it worked out. If it had stayed on the turf, we probably would have scratched. This was a good spot for her and a good way to get back in the win column.”

Running Away is the 41st lifetime stakes winner for Gun Runner. The Kentucky-bred is out of Allez Marie, who has also produced the stakes winners Legalize and Workaholic. Allez Marie is a daughter of Kentucky Oaks (G1) winner Summerly.
